THE company who look after the county's household recycling centres has funded a new electric car for Herefordshire Wildlife Trust.

Severn Waste Services funded the BMW i3 which will help staff who need to travel between 55 nature reserves across the county.

Chief executive Helen Stace said it'll help the trust become more environmentally friendly.

“The trust has been working hard on ways to reduce its carbon footprint, so this donation is very timely," she said.

"At our offices at Queenswood Country Park we have been working with partners New Leaf Sustainable Development to introduce sustainability measures.

"We have solar panels so we can charge the new car on site from the power these generate.”

Severn Waste Services has supported the trust on numerous occasions over the last ten years.

Herefordshire Council was invited to the launch of the car, as the local authority is working towards a target of zero carbon emissions by 2030.
