IT was a relief seeing the roadworks around the M5 Junction 6 appear to be finally coming to a conclusion.
The work has been delayed three times now, and is more than a year behind schedule, and as someone who uses the junction regularly, it has been a nightmare at times trying to use it.
Freak incidents like the underground flooding are understandable - nobody can really plan for them, but for Highways England to not be prepared for fairly typical English rain is laughable.
The idea that in 21st Century Britain, works like this would be delayed by standard autumn and winter weather is nonsense, and the highways authority should take ownership of the fact they could have done this quicker.
Despite all the delays, the improvement works will help improve access to Warndon as well as other areas of the city, something Worcester urgently needs, so it is good to see that the end appears to be in sight.
Drivers have put up with some truly miserable disruption since these works began, so next month's deadline cannot come soon enough.
