THE next phase of the works to improve footpath and cycle routes in Bromsgrove’s Sanders Park gets underway this week.

Work in the park is due to begin on Monday, February 3, including widening the combined walking and cycling path from Whitford Road through the centre of the park to create a new, improved main access from Kidderminster Road.

Widening of the Sanders Park bridge is also part of this phase of work and is planned to take place in mid-February.

Councillor Ken Pollock, Worcestershire County Council's cabinet member with responsibility for economy and infrastructure, said: “It’s great news that works to improve the walking and cycling routes through Sanders Park are pushing ahead.

“We are aiming for these new improvements to be enjoyed by all those using the park in the spring.”

The works are being carried out by Worcestershire County Council using part for the £3.4 million National Productivity Investment funding from the Department for Transport to provide better walking and cycling access to Bromsgrove town centre.

The link through Sanders Park is one of a total of nine links.

This phase of the works will last up to five weeks, with the completion date dependent on the quality of the weather.

The programme of works is funded via the Department for Transport’s (DfT) National Productivity Investment Fund of which £3.4 million was granted to the county to reduce congestion and improve walking any cycling routes in Bromsgrove.
