A CHILDREN'S bookstore will be hosting a number of events focusing on mental health this weekend.

The 'Feelings and Emotions' book event at The Children's Bookshelf marks Children’s Mental Health Week 2020, and will take place at the Catherine Street shop between 10am and 5pm on February 8 and 9.

Owner Duncan Cooper said: "Our children face all sorts of challenges in their lives, and as their parents and guardians we always want to do our best to help them.

"If there are any books you would like to see in this event please do let us know by messaging us privately.

Specialist children and young people's counsellor Emma Largesse will be at the shop from 10.30am to 12.30pm on February 8, and all are welcome to stop in for a chat.

The Marches Family Network will be visiting the shop between 10am and 1pm on February 9, to offer advice on the support available to families of children with disabilities.

The charity specialises in offering care and support to children with a disability or special needs and their families, working to enhance quality of life, providing respite through play days and schemes, and offering advice, advocacy and signposting through their family support service.

Afternoon events on both days will include a mindfulness and stress reduction session for dads from 2.30pm to 3pm, a 'calm kids' taster between 3pm and 3.30pm, and a 'five minutes peace' session for mums between 3.30pm and 4pm.

Specialist books will also be on sale from £2 each at the shop on both days.
