IT is inspiring to read today’s front page story on how a former Worcester mayor’s legacy will help military veterans.

Ray Turner was a Korean war veteran and two of his grandsons have served in the forces.

Daughter Dawn has used money left by Ray to create a charity in a bid to help others after her father, brother and sister all died.

Her brother died of alcoholism and her sister took her own life.

Both these desperate ends are common to veteran suffering from PTSD.

Now charity Stepway hopes to offer many the support they so desperately need.

For some veterans, the effects of their service can be instantaneous, for others it only comes to the surface in the months and years after they have left the military.

It is good to know Ray’s money is being used to help our heroes who have put their lives on the line for Queen and country.

And it is important we all do our bit to help many of those who have fallen on hard times.

They should not suffer in silence.
