STORM Dennis has lashed parts of the region, including Alcester, with more than a month’s worth of rain in 48 hours.

Roads and railways have been flooded after torrential downpours and high winds caused by the second storm in just over a week.

Police said they were currently dealing with large amounts of flooding across the force area.

A spokesman said: "Please do not ignore road closures, they are there for your safety. To help us out please only use 999 in an emergency and where possible report crime online."

Residents are being urged avoid driving through Pelham Lane, as a lot of water is running off the fields and causing further flooding.

A spokesman said: "Do not attempt to drive through it, you are only putting yourself and your vehicle at risk. Recovering vehicles in flood conditions is not only difficult but timely too. So please be careful and think twice about driving through flooded areas."
