MORE than £1,000 has been raised for a new dad who suffered horrific facial injuries in an accident on the M42 near Hopwood.

Niall Martell reportedly broke every bone in his face, including his skull, last month, after his car's brakes locked on the junction slip road when trying to avoid another car and his vehicle flipped over, hitting a tree.

Three men - Jamie Emms and brothers Bradford and Tom Piper - who were driving on the other side of the motorway stopped to help him.

Mr Martell, 23, was then taken to the Alexandra Hospital and has since undergone surgery for his injuries.

Mr Martell's aunt Vinell Martell-Corbett set up a GoFundMe page to help Niall and his girlfriend Shanai Alleyne, who gave birth to their first child, son Ziah, 11 days after the accident.

So far it has raised £1,085.

She said: "This GoFundme account has been created in order to assist Niall and his new family with the ongoing costs of care, because he has a long road to recovery ahead of him."

She added neither will be able to work for a lengthy amount of time.
