A CLASSIC vehicle enthusiast plans to travel 3,000 miles driving an old farm tractor for charity.

Graham Dell, 78, from Malvern, is a life-long lover of vintage vehicles, including cars, motorbikes and tractors.

Mr Dell said: “We lost my son’s wife to cancer and my mum died of the disease too.

“I held my best friend in my arms as he died of this condition as well – such terrible times that are hard to forget.

“I want to help people as much as I can by raising as much money as possible mainly for Cancer Research UK as well as two other charities.”

A percentage of funds will be split with Fibromyalgia UK and Lupus UK due to family connections suffering with these conditions. Mr Dell plans to travel through the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and around England.

He will do this on a small Coventry-build Massey Ferguson, a popular tractor of its era when it came into production from 1964

It was used for moving light loads on farms.

Mr Dell is no stranger to long-distance rides.

He rode a motorbike from Land’s End to John o’ Groats in a matter of days in 1991 to celebrate his 50th birthday.

In 2006, he travelled with his friend, Terry Pope, from John o’ Groats to Land’s End over a distance of 874 miles, raising around £5,000 for charity.

For this ride, Mr Dell said he needs help with the designing of sponsorship forms and for members of the public to help collect money on his behalf.

Mayor of Malvern Neil Morton said: “We wish Graham every success on his epic vintage tractor ride.

“When he returns we look forward to welcoming him back property at our offices.”

Mr Dell would love to hear from members of the public who can support his latest adventure and he can be contacted on: 07860361145.
