TWO people had to be rescued by firefighters after a car was driven through floodwater on the Bewdley switchback.
Emergency services were called to the scene on the B4194 at around 11.50pm last night (Wednesday, February 26).
Firefighters from Wyre Forest Hub and Worcester responded and were joined at the scene by members of Wyre Forest Severn Area Rescue Association.
The car, a Land Rover, had driven through a road closed sign on the switchback and became stranded in the deep floodwater.
Crews rescued the driver and a passenger using boats and sleds.
Posting on Twitter afterwards, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service warned people: "Do not drive through road closed signs, this is putting yourselves and our crews at significant risk."
Police Chief Inspector for North Worcestershire Ed Hancox reiterated the advice, tweeting: "Driver and passenger being rescued from a Land Rover in floodwater on B4194 at Bewdley. Don't drive through floods!
"Thanks to Hereford and Worcester Fire Service for their assistance."
