BAXTER College in Kidderminster has reduced teaching group numbers in a 'bid to keep the school open' in response to the coronavirus outbreak.
The school has confirmed there are currently eight staff self-isolating as a precaution, either because they or someone they live with have a cough or high temperature, and student absence is running at 28 per cent.
No one from the school has been tested positive for coronavirus.
A spokesman for the school said: "Years 7 and 8 have been reduced from six to four teaching groups in most subjects, and some adjustments are being made to groups across years 9, 10 and 11, in a bid to keep the school open until such time as the Government advises full closure.
"Sixth form lessons are unaffected."
