MALVERN residents and businesses dealing with the coronavirus crisis have been encouraged to stick to government advice by their MP.

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin said everyone must follow advice on social distancing to protect the NHS.

She said: "This is a very difficult and worrying time for us all and I want to pay tribute to all those people who work for the NHS or in social care who are at the front line for this challenge.

"The best thing we can all do is to socially distance and stay at home to try and reduce the spread of this virus and help take the pressure off our NHS.

"I’m also keen to recognise the amazing work being done by shop workers, delivery drivers, food producers and farmers whose role is becoming increasingly vital as we all spend much more time at home.

"In recent days, I have seen a huge surge in contacts from local people asking a wide range of issues including how to access Government financial support and I have posted lots of useful information on my website and across social media. You should also look at gov.uk/coronavirus for the latest advice.

"I’ve also been in touch with the local supermarkets, local volunteer groups and the local foodbanks to make sure food supplies get to where they are most needed. We all hope that these latest measures are not in place for but for now everyone must adhere to the new rules to help the NHS and help to save lives."

Earlier this week, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said citizens must stay indoors except for essential shopping and one period of exercise per day.
