A PUB in Kidderminster has been given an official warning after a video emerged of people leaving the drinking spot after the Government coronavirus lockdown.

The video, which circulated on social media, appeared to show individuals leaving The Golden Lion in George Street on Sunday, March 22, prompting an investigation by Worcestershire Regulatory Services.

In the video, Kidderminster resident Paige Price says: "I've just been up to the door - Loud music and punters in there.

"They're taking their kids in their as well."

Worcestershire Regulatory Services has since confirmed it has given The Golden Lion a formal warning.

Investigations were also carried out at The Vault bar and Pennies in Kidderminster after a picture shared online was claimed to show a lock-in at one of the venues.

However, following an inquiry, both were found to be complying with lockdown laws.

A spokesman for Worcestershire Regulatory Services said: "Officers from Worcestershire Regulatory Services have followed up all allegations of businesses being open contrary to legal requirements.

"All the premises were found to be complying with the new rules, apart from The Golden Lion in Kidderminster, which has received a formal warning.

"All businesses will remain under regular surveillance by Worcestershire Regulatory Services and our partners at Worcestershire County Council Trading Standards and West Mercia Police to ensure compliance, and we will continue to act on the intelligence received regarding any breaches.”

The Shuttle was unable to reach The Golden Lion pub for comment.
