BROMSGROVE boss Brendan Kelly is urging fans to help Sporting mount another promotion push next season - by entering a new monthly raffle designed to boost club funds.

The Rouslers, like virtually all non-league clubs, have suffered from the financial effects of the coronavirus lockdown over the past several weeks.

They also had the blow of seeing the 2019/20 non-league season made null and void, ruling out any chance of a second successive promotion.

Bromsgrove, were sat fourth in the Southern League Premier Central, well on course to achieve a play-off spot - having been promoted via that route last year - when the campaign was cut short.

Boss Kelly is already looking towards next season at the Victoria Ground. although uncertainty still remains over when the grassroots game will be given the green light to kick off again.

With bills still to be paid, Bromsgrove have launched a monthly prize draw, called Sporting Chance, and Kelly says that can be crucial to the club's ambitions on and off the pitch.

He said: "Although Sporting is in a reasonable financial position at this difficult time, we have zero income but still have regular outgoings.

"We also have the costs of close season pitch and stadium maintenance.

"With just 100 fans taking part in Sporting Chance, that would go halfway to covering our monthly rent payments.

"We need to be in a strong position for a successful 2020/21 season, whenever that may be.

"Meanwhile, I urge all the Sporting faithful to help out where they can with the pandemic."

Sporting Chance is not a unique concept to Bromsgrove as prize draws are used at other clubs, both in non-league and the professional game, to raise much-needed income while offering cash prizes.

The Sporting Chance draw costs £10 per entry per month, which is paid on the 15th of every month by standing order.

There are three prizes winners every month, with the main prize at £300.

The club says that if it receives a good response to this draw then prize money will be increased.
