Defeating the challenge of coronavirus must continue to be our absolute priority. The actions we are all taking, most importantly by staying at home, are showing some indications of progress. But in this fight, our greatest weapon is the scientific evidence and advice.

According to that evidence, the worst thing we could do now is ease up too soon and allow a second peak of the virus to hit the NHS and the British people. We must not allow this disease a second chance. I know these are difficult times, particularly for the most vulnerable members of our community. But, with families, friends and neighbours pulling together across Bromsgrove District, we will get through this – together.

In that spirit, I’m pleased that many local businesses are getting direct support from the government during these incredibly challenging times. The payment of £10,000 grants to our smallest local businesses are well underway; as well as grants of up to £25,000 for eligible businesses in the retail, leisure and hospitality industry.

My team and I are working flat out to support local residents and businesses, and as ever, if you need my assistance please do email me at sajid.javid.mp@parliament.uk
