BROMSGROVE MP Sajid Javid has thrown his support behind the Advertiser’s Love Local Business campaign – insisting the town’s economy needs residents’ assistance now more than ever.

We launched the campaign in June to support local businesses as they emerge from the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent lockdown.

Many firms, including shops, have now reopened but others such as hairdressers and gyms are still prevented from opening their doors.

Even those that have remained open throughout lockdown have seen a significant loss in income.

“This has been a challenging period for businesses,” said Mr Javid, who toured Bromsgrove town centre last week to speak to employees and employers of firms who have reopened.

“But thanks to our collective effort and our amazing front line responders, the infection rate has declined, and we can begin to cautiously and safely reopen many local businesses.”

“Across Bromsgrove District, local shops are safely reopening, and they need our support.

“I am delighted that the Love Local campaign will be helping to champion our fantastic community, because when you back business, you back Bromsgrove.

“By supporting them, we can help to restart the wider economy and allow high streets across the country to spring back to life.”

As part of the Newsquest publishing group, the Bromsgrove Advertiser reaches a huge percentage of the local population across our well-established regional brands including print publications, record online audiences and social media channels.

Bromsgrove Advertiser editor Stephanie Preece said: "This is a crucial time for local businesses as they try to recover from the impact of the lockdown which, for many, has seen them without any income for more than two months.

"It is therefore fantastic to have the support of our local MP as we launch this campaign to try and support out great local, independent businesses.

“In the coming months we will be promoting these businesses in our newspaper, on our website and our social media channels, to help spread the message that they are open and highlight why they are so valuable to this community.

“I urge all of our readers to show that they love local business by supporting them.”
