THE 50th anniversary of the first man of the moon is the theme for a summer of activities at Tenbury Library.

With the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing being celebrated this year, it’s a great time to think about activities taking place during the holidays.

The upcoming space themed events at Tenbury Library combine the two.

The programme of events kicked off with a ‘Flying Through Space’ story and hunting for flying creatures session on The Burgage with Teme Valley Wildlife Group.

Petr Horacek, the author of both the ‘The Mouse Who….’ and the Suzy Goose series of children’s books will be visiting Tenbury and hosting a stories and artwork session at the library.

The session will run from 2.30p.m. – 3.30p.m today (Thursday, August 1) and is aimed at children aged between four and 11 years.

Children can also ‘stitch your own galaxy’ as part of the ‘Lost in Space workshop’ that will run at the library from 2-5pm on Thursday, August 8. The session costs £10. To book a place, please email Andrea on: merricafall@yahoo.co.uk

There will be a ‘Bill the Dog’s’ Adventures in Space story time and craft activity ran in combination with the Dog’s Trust, on Thursday, August 15 between 2.30pm to 3.30pm.

These activities follow a series of launch events hosted across the county for this year’s space-themed Summer Reading Challenge by libraries across Worcestershire.

Last year, Worcestershire’s libraries had the highest percentage rate of finishers in the West Midlands.
