TIVIDALE’S FA Cup heroics came to an end last night when they were edged out 1-0 at home by Leek Town in the Second Qualifying Round replay.

An effort from Paul Donnelly which took a big deflection off Mitchell Botfield in the 29th minute proved to be the difference in another tight affair between the two sides.

It was the third ocassion the teams had met in a seven days, with Tivi edged out in the league 2-1 last week and drawing 2-2 in Staffordshire in the cup on Saturday.

Despite missing seven players, the Black Country side had chances, with Karl Edwards and Luke Paskin having chances.

Manager Ian Long said: ““We were missing a few players but we held our own and had chances.

“Their keeper made two point blank saves and we’ve had an effort cleared off the line.

“But we’ve matched one of the league’s most highly fancied sides and must take that into the league.”

Tividale resume the Northern League Division One South on Saturday at home to second-placed Loughoborough Dynamo (3pm ko) and then away to Stafford Rangers next Tuesday (7.45pm ko).
