QUARRY Bank Tennis Club played host to the best young talent in the borough as six teams took part in the Dudley Junior School Tennis Tournament.
The competition, which featured 24 of Dudley’s top tennis players, was won by Maidensbridge Primary School who defeated Glynne Primary School in the final.
All the competitors were given a certificate.
The event was arranged by Sam Ayris, the school games organiser at Ellowes Hall Sports College, who managed the competition on the day with the assistance of 12 games leaders from Thorns Community College.
Club chairman Steve Jasper said: “It was a fantastic day. It was great to see the children’s enthusiasm and competitiveness. Grass roots tennis like this is what small clubs like Quarry Bank are all about.
“Who knows, if someone develops a love for the game because of this competition, we could have been watching a future Wimbledon champion.”
