HOTSHOT Geoff Hill hit a hat-trick as Gornal Athletic cruised to their seventh straight league win in Division One of the West Midlands League.

Hill struck twice in the first half before adding his third in the second as the Peacocks beat Tipton Town 3-0 at Garden Walk last Saturday.

Manager Matt Fisher was delighted with the win that leaves his side in fifth place and just four points away from leaders Newport Town.

He said: "It was a very strong performance from start to finish.

"From the goalkeeper all the way through the team we were solid.

"Another pleasing thing was the way a few players came into the side and stepped up.

"It's good to keep players on their toes. People who aren't in the side want to come in and take their chance to be part of a winning team."

Gornal had to do without absent duo Tom Beech and Tom Lawton for the Tipton clash but both should return for this Saturday's trip to six-placed Wem Town.

However, Athletic may have to do without Lee Jukes after he was forced off at the weekend.

The Peacocks go to Wem for their first away contest in five games.

"Wem are a good side are on a good run the same as ourselves," added Fisher.

"It's been good to play so many games at Garden Walk but I think everyone is looking forward to getting on the road again and showing the same form away."

Meanwhile, Fisher has bolstered his coaching team by bring in brother Andy Fisher.

Andy is the current boss of Stourbridge Ladies but will also be taking training with Gornal on Wednesdays as well as helping with match-day warm-ups.
