OLDBURY triathlete Jodie Stimpson will not defend her Commonwealth crown after failing to make England's squad for the 2018 Games.

Stimpson didn't to make the cut for April's Gold Coast contest with Vicky Holland, Jess Learmonth and Sophie Coldwell chosen for the women's team.

It's another selection disappointment for the Oldbury star after previously missing out on the Rio Olympics in 2016.

Stimpson bagged a double gold for her country in Glasgow in 2014 when she claimed victory in the women's race before following it up with gold in the mixed relay with Holland and the Brownlee brothers, Alistair and Jonathan.

However, an on-going Achilles injury this season left her frustrated in her quest to build on her second-place finish in the Abu Dhabi leg of the World Triathlon Series and push towards Commonwealth qualification.
