How they rated:

Halesowen 2, Rushall Olympic 0

Platt: Made some important saves throughout. Positioned himself well to deal with a host early Rushall sighters before a fine second half low stop to deny Waldron. 7.5.

Ekongo: A good showing from the full-back. Lots of energy, made himself available for the ball and got forward to support attacks when possible. 7.

Kelly: Solid showing from the defender who also got his name on the scoresheet when his second half corner found its way in. 7.

Goddard: Really big performance from the midfielder. Yeltz had an extra man in the second half and made that count most by winning the midfield battle. His long range shot was spilt and led to his side's opener. 7.5.

Morrison: Solid enough at the back to help Halesowen secure a much-needed clean sheet. Won some important headers in the second half and covered well. 7.

Charlton: The experienced defender also played his part to keep Rushall out. Put one dangerous ball into the Olympic box that Kelly couldn't quite reach. 7.

Arnold: Has added more energy to the Yeltz midfield. Made himself available to receive the ball but was quick to press without it. His link up with Goddard and Bragoli was key. 7.5.

Bragoli: An important performance from the skipper. Kept it simple but got his foot in at key moments to break up Rushall's play. 7.

Knight: Gave the Yeltz a presence in the final third. Made both clever and selfless runs throughout. Tricky footwork and intelligent movement made him a big danger. Capped a fine debut with a goal. 8.

Monteiro: Worked hard in support of Knight. Didn't quite manage to find the killer ball on a couple of occasions but always used it well in the build up and offered another outlet. 7.

Longbottom: Another solid debut from the loanee. Worked hard throughout and got Halesowen going in the right direction. 7.

Subs:

Diop: Came on for Longbottom as Hales looked to negotiate the final ten minutes without trouble. Held the ball up well when required. 7.

Unused subs: Weir-Daly, Roland, Parsons.
