DUDLEY Sports boss Tony Gore was pleased with how his side battled for an opening day draw at Bewdley Town.

Sports drew 2-2 at Ribbesford Meadow last Saturday to get the new campaign off to a solid start.

Richard Hanson handed them the lead before Bewdley pulled level on the stroke of half time.

The home side then edged ahead in the second half before Ellis Bastable made sure Sports shared the spoils.

Gore said: "It was a good performance from us during an entertaining game.

"I'm really pleased with how we did. It was a hot day but we looked alright. It's only the first game but there were some encouraging signs.

"It's a brand new squad so it'll take them a bit of time to gel together still, which makes the result even better. They should be improving with each game.

"If we can just add one or two more then we'll be pleased with the squad."

Sports have no injury issues ahead of this Saturday home game against Bilston Town (3pm kick-off).
