BEWDLEY are on the brink of winning Worcestershire County Division One first XI after Stourport's defeat to Feckenham.

Josh Stacey made 58 as Feckenham posted 215-7, he then bagged 6-21 as Stourport were dismissed for 124.

The result means Bewdley, who cruised to a six-wicket win over Cookley, need just 12 points from their remaining two games to clinch the title.

With Bewdley, Stourport and Evesham, who beat Burghill by seven wickets on Saturday, all mathematically safe for next season's County Premier League the race is on for the two remaining places.

Chaddesley, who had to settle for a winning draw against Colwall on Saturday, look favourites for fourth.

They require fifteen points from their last two matches to gain qualification and with a trip to struggling Pedmore on Saturday will be hoping to secure premier league status this weekend.

Worcester kept hold of fifth place after 5-36 from Mohammad Adeel helped them to victory over Worcester Nomads.

Hagley are two points behind after a two-wicket win over Pedmore and Feckenham occupy seventh, just six points from Worcester.

All three teams face tough games against the three teams at the top of the table and a trio of defeats could bring Colwall into the mix if they get maximum points from their game with basement side Cookley.

In Division Two 1st XI Oldswinford Captain Tom Blunt took a second innings 4-21 to secure victory against basement side Wormelow and extended their lead at the top of the table to twenty points.

In other matches David Taylor took 6-30 in the second innings to drive Bromyard to victory after Alex Craven had taken 6-36 in the first innings for Enville to restrict the home team to 144 all out.

Enville now lie in sixth position, nine points behind Droitwich in fifth and with the top five positions looking likely to make up Division One next season, Bromyard’s victory means they now require just nineteen points from their last two matches to secure Division One status next season.

Old Vigornians lie in seventh position following Ed Burgoyne’s six wicket haul in the second innings which helped them to victory against Bartestree and fourteen points behind Droitwich with two matches to go.

Bredon’s hopes were all but dashed as Kempsey chased down their impressive first innings total of 299-7 thanks to Joshua Jones (87) and Captain Chris Jones (82*).

Champions Lye celebrated their Division Three first XI title triumph with another emphatic win against Five Ways at the Masshouse yesterday.

They are now over one hundred points clear at the top after Waqas Ahmed smashed a fine century (106) and Nadeem Hussain took 6-33 in the second innings to ease the champions to victory.

Performance of the day however came from Troy Lee as his brilliant undefeated first innings 213 helped third placed Netherton shake off their recent indifferent form to dominate second placed Harborne.

Their huge first innings 433-4 proved well out of reach for the home team who managed to cling on to a losing draw and second place just two points clear of Netherton after they finished nine wickets down.

In other matches Rushwick’s frail batting let them down again as they were dismissed for 89 in the second innings against a resurgent Avoncroft.

Lewis Hooper took five first innings wickets for the home team to restrict the visitors to a low first innings 158 all out but a fine second innings spell from Jonathan Hunter (5-17) grabbed the win for the visitors and left the home team nursing their wounds knowing that a victory would have put them well clear in second position.

Elsewhere, Martley moved into fifth position following an eight wicket victory against Alvechurch thanks to Alexander Basford’s excellent undefeated 86 in the second innings.

Bromsgrove secured a winning draw in a tight game against Eastnor at the Hedges ground and in the basement battle Hanley Castle defeat Malvern by three wickets.

The race for the title in Division Four first XI was blown wide open as last weeks leaders Romsley & Hunnington could only secure a losing draw at Alveley and dropped to third place six points behind joint leaders Astwood Bank (last weeks second placed team) who amassed a huge first innings 340-7 which proved enough for the winning draw at Kidderminster and Halesowen who secured a maximum points win at Himley.

The title race will be decided between these three teams over the remaining two weeks all of whom have challenging fixtures ahead.

In other matches Claverley stayed in fourth after beating Tenbury Wells by eight wickets, Phillip Chaundy scored 96 in the second innings for West Malvern as they beat Hallow Taverners by nine wickets and Hassam Munir scored 116 to help Stourbridge post over four hundred in the first innings against Stourport who managed to cling on for a losing draw thanks to another half century from the in-form Jim Cook.
