LYE Town made their long awaited first home appearance of the season following seven successive away games - and promptly lost 3-2 to Romulus.
High flying Lye had entered the game sitting second in Total Motion Midland Premier after an impressive start to the season on the road.
Lye duly made all the early running and took the lead through a Joe Lawley penalty.
But they came unstuck against Romulus and their route one tactics which yielded goals for Luke Richards and Dimitri Dunkley.
Lye levelled through Jason Wood on 83 minutes only for Dunkley to despatch a late winner.
Lye boss Andy Wyton admitted: "It was a huge anti-climax after doing so well away from home.
"We gave away three silly goals, which isn't like us.
"What was more disappointing was the fact we were all over them for the first 25 minutes and should have put the game to bed there and then.
"But we didn't and then struggled against Romulus and their style of play.
"The game also told me that I need to improve the midfield and that is something I will be looking at".
Lye have a re-arranged League Cup contest away to Boldmere St Michaels this Saturday before entertaining Inkberrow next Tuesday night in the Smedley Crook Cup
