BEWDLEY Cricket Club secured the Worcestershire County League title with an eight wicket victory against Worcester Nomads.

Stourport finished second after travelling to fourth place finishers Chaddesley and winning by 142 runs thanks to a brilliant first innings century from opening batsman Greg Massingham (142).

Evesham finished third and ended Hagley’s faint hopes of qualifying for next season's County Premier Division as they chased down the home side's first innings score of 214-9 to win by two wickets.

Feckenham won by four wickets against Burghill the top five places were secure.

Results elsewhere meant that six teams from the Worcestershire County League Division One would now qualify for the new County Premier Division place 2019.

This made the game between sixth placed Worcester and eight placed Colwall a crucial contest as the winner would bag a place in the new top flight.

Worcester, who scored 200, came out on top after dismissing Colwall for 125, Jabran Khalid returned figures of 4-26.

In the other match in the division Pedmore beat Cookley to move out of the bottom two.

The Division Two first XI crown went to Oldswinford & Stourbridge Social who took the title with a convincing five wicket victory at home against sixth place finishers Bredon. Coombs Wood did what they needed to do to keep the pressure on by gaining a maximum points win at Enville but had to settle for second and Belbroughton finished well clear of fourth after victory against Old Vigornians.

Zahid Saeed scored a fine 110 for Bromyard as they comfortably beat Kempsey to ensure fourth place, Droitwich Spa ended on a high by beating Himbleton by ten wickets and finish fifth.

In the other match in the division Bartestree walked away with the local bragging rights as Marcus Ashcroft took 6-43 in the first innings to help secure victory at Wormelow.

Champions Lye continued on their ‘no prisoners approach’ in Division Three first XI as they beat sixth place finishers Harborne by ten wickets to breeze passed four hundred points for the season.

Rushwick won the race for second place as Stuart Parker (78*) guided them home to a six wicket victory against Eastnor. Netherton finished eight points behind in third as they posted an excellent 290-4 thanks largely to 97 from Russell Oseland but could only take a winning draw at Hanley Castle & Upton as Grant Mathews frustrated the visitors with an undefeated half century.

Avoncroft finished fourth and will be disappointed the season ended on Saturday as they continued on with their impressive end of season form by beating Martley by 222 thanks to first innings centuries from Josh Cound (143) and Ben Warwick (134*) which helped them compile over four hundred.

Another team who finished the season in good form was Bromsgrove helped themselves to fifth position as Paul Hutchins (120) and Sam Johnson 107* ensured they compiled a first innings score that proved far too many for Five Ways Old Edwardians as they were dismissed well short thanks to Freddie Fallows taking 5-55.

In the other match played in the division Rob Francis scored a brilliant undefeated century (118*) to help basement club Malvern secure only their second victory of the season, a tight one wicket victory against Alvechurch & Hopwood (for whom Edd Rodgers scored 92.)

Three teams could have won Division Four first XI on Saturday but favourites Halesowen, after a little flutter with the bat at the start of their second innings run chase, composed themselves to secure victory at Alveley by six wickets and win the title.

Astwood Bank won a tight match against Stourbridge at Hanbury to secure second, finishing just four points behind Halesowen and six points ahead of Romsley & Hunnington who finished third after beating Kidderminster by twenty seven runs.

Elsewhere, Claverley finished in fourth place after cruising to a six wicket victory at Stourport for whom Jim Cook continued his rich vein of end of season form by compiling a first innings century (138).

Fergus Neve took 5-27 in the second innings for West Malvern as they beat Himley to secure fifth position and finally Hallow Taverners lost to Tenbury Wells by six wickets.
