GORNAL Athletic's players are set to be treated to a coaching session led by Birmingham City's assistant manager Pep Clotet.

The Spaniard will put the Peacock's through their paces when he takes a training session at Garden Walk on Thursday, September 27.

Clotet and Blues' head of analysis Ryan Needs will take the session from 7pm and fans are being invited to watch with entry costing £5.

The opportunity has come about after Gornal boss Lee Wood helped get Clotet tickets to see Iron Maiden after the rockers played a friendly at Garden Walk last month. The assistant at St Andrew's is now returning the favour.

Meanwhile, the Peacocks lost 2-1 at Telford Juniors last Saturday.

Wood said: "The pitch was terrible and they handled it better than we did.

"They played a direct style and we didn't adapt to that. We were much better in the second half but gave ourselves too much to do.

"We are still in a rebuilding phase here so it's now about taking the second half and building on that."

Gornal now face a local derby at home to Wrens Nest on Tuesday night before hosting Bustleholme on Saturday.
