DUDLEY'S Hartshill Strollers saw their national trophy dreams come to an end.
They lost 1-0 to Clevedon in the WFA Over-65s National Cup 2018 – walking football’s equivalent of the FA Cup.
The finals were held at Cirencester Arena, Gloucestershire, last Sunday.
The super-veterans were hoping to match the achievements of the club’s over-60s team who won the trophy – at the same venue – in 2016.
In this year’s competition, the over-50s and over-60s went out in earlier rounds.
The club plays at the Summerhill School in Kingswinford.
Bob Haywood, Hartshill’s over-65s team manager, said: “It was a disappointing ending to a fantastic campaign.
“But we can take comfort from knowing that we are undisputed regional champions and one of the best over-65s teams in the country.
“I am very proud of all the players who helped us to reach the finals. There’s always next year!”
