RIVALS Dudley Sports and Dudley Town had to settle for a share of the spoils as their derby day encounter ended all square.

The clash finished 0-0 at the Robins' York Road Stadium last Saturday. It was the second successive stalemate between the two sides.

Sports boss Tony Gore felt his team looked the more likely winners despite having to field outfield player Sam Woodhouse in goal.

A family illness caused regular stopper Liam O'Dowd to miss the match and force Gore into a late reshuffle.

However, that set-back didn't trouble Sports as the well-protected Woodhouse chalked up a clean sheet without much to do.

Gore said: "The day didn't start too good for us when we heard Liam O'Dowd wouldn't be available.

"Sam Woodhouse volunteered and went in goal. In the end he didn't have a shot to save.

"I thought we played the better football, got into some good positions but didn't make the most of them.

"We were a little frustrated we didn't take our chances but there was a lot of positives for us."

Sports now welcome Pegasus Juniors to Hillcrest Avenue this Saturday (3pm kick-off).

"We want to take points from the teams around us and Pegasus fall into that category," added Gore.

"We haven't scored for four games, which is a concern, but we did look threatening on Saturday."

Gore has boosted his squad with the addition of midfielder David Sunburk.

Dudley Town boss Dean Whitehouse says his patience is running out with his players after they failed to do more against their rivals.

Whitehouse left Craig Love in charge for the contest and has demanded more after a disappointing report from his assistant.

He said: "I heard it was a poor game between two poor sides.

"By all accounts, we showed no passion or desire. They edged it and from my point of view that isn't good enough.

"If they players don't startto show something more then they will be out, it's as simple as that.

"We've shown a lot of patience but I haven't got time to baby sit them anymore. They need to start showing the right attitude."

Town, who have added Jake Brigdale from Tividale, will go to Shawbury United on Wednesday before a trip to Tivi this Saturday (3pm).
