OLD Halesonians' under-15s continued their fine form with a 62-14 success over their Bouneville counterparts last weekend.

The first half at Wassell Grove started with a bang as defence and rucking becoming the main focus of the game.

Both teams were working hard to place their physicality on the game and find the upper hand in blustery conditions.

Old Hales led the way with captain Leo Ward having an outstanding game in both attack and defence and leading the team to another success.

"Today was by far the worst conditions we have seen this year and yet again this group of players stepped up and not only played well but allowed the ball to move and played with a great level of physicality and accuracy," said coach Matt Williams.

"I was so pleased with Leo Ward’s performance today he really showed me why he will lead us as a group this year; he stepped up and gave us the platform to work off. A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way. For me Leo Ward is the guy to do this for us as a team.”

It was another week which saw many different Old Hales players getting over the try line; with a first try in 2018-2019 seasons for Dylan Gough and Luke Bryant.

The Hales youngsters take on Veseyans away this Saturday and they hope to have Max Lamb, James Round and James Larkin all available for selection, as well as the returning Reece Richards.

Meanwhile, Old Hales firsts didn't have a game last weekend but will look to build on their good start to the campaign when they go to Sutton Coldfield this Saturday.
