IT was a game of two halves in an entertaining clash at Stourton Park where Stourbridge emerged victorious against South Leicester.

Stour began the day three points ahead of their opponents in National Two North and dominated the early opening spell.

Star man Joe Heatley got the hosts off to a flying start with try in the second minute after a charge from 22m, Reece Beddows added another which was converted by Rickie Aley following a flowing passing move.

Aley and Jack Lea both added further converted tries to hand Stour the bonus point inside 20 minutes.

Fluid passing and strong defence made Stour almost totally dominant, Nick Cairns and Mark George touched down and Aley kept the conversions coming.

South Leicester managed to break Stour’s stranglehold on the stroke of half time with a try from Tom Cheney which was converted by Ben Palmer to make the score at the break 40-7.

The second half began with Stour’s Dan Rundle speeding through from 22m for another converted try.

Stour have failed to kill off games this season and tries for South Leicester for Timo Koster and Javiah Pohe plus a conversion from Palmer pushed open the door for a comeback.

Stour seemed to respond well when Nigel Mukarati crashed over from a lineout and Aley added the extras but sloppy defending by the hosts allowed Palmer to find a way through for a try he converted for himself.

A flowing passing move from South Leicester saw John Hughes add another try.

Stour were making mistakes which were not there in the first period, Joe Lane added another try after the hosts lost possession and again Palmer converted.

Lane bagged a second try after a stroll through the Stour line which Palmer converted from wide on the touchline to put South Leicester within two converted tries of the lead.

Aley eased the mounting tension with a penalty in the dying minutes to make the final score 57-45.
