NEIL Shillingford says Dudley Kingswinford are determined to strike a psychological blow to fellow title contenders Bromsgrove this Saturday.

The sides clash in the semi-final of the North Mids Cup (1pm kick-off) but it's the mental battle that the Heathbrook director of rugby is keen to win this weekend.

He explained: "It's not necessarily about getting to the North Mids Cup final, it's more about showing our intentions in the league this season and putting a bit of doubt in their minds for when we meet them again for the reverse fixture.

"We are a different team now to the one that they beat earlier in the season and it's about showing that this weekend.

"Obviously it'll also be nice bonus to have a final to look forward to at the end of the season as well."

DK go into the clash on the back of a ruthless home victory over strugglers Moseley Oak last Saturday.

The hosts won 93-5 to keep the heat on leaders Newbold and the second-placed Boars.

Shillingford added: "I gather Moseley have been struggling to get the same team out this season but they still have a few good lads in their side.

"Although we were four or five tries to the good we really had to work hard for it.

"At half time we spoke about making sure we kept our structure. They were losing theirs a little and it's easy for you to get sucked into doing the same.

"But that didn't happen and we made the right decisions and it was then about being ruthless.

"It was one of our best performances so far this season for different reasons.

"It was all about ourselves rather than the opposition and the way we play. On that basis it was really good."

Matt Perks was rested against Moseley but should be back in contention for this Saturday's cup clash.

DK then return to league action the following weekend when they travel to leaders Newbold.
