LYE Town boss Andy Wyton admits his side must improve ahead of this Saturday's important FA Vase clash with Leighton Town.

The Stourbridge Road side were initially scheduled to face United Counties League side Cogenhoe Town but the Northamptonshire side have been thrown out of the competition for fielding an ineligible player.

But Wyton is well aware his side must do better in the wake of last Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Loughborough University.

Wyton said: "We didn't deserve to get anything out of the game, even though we had the lion's share of possession. But we didn't do enough with the ball when we had it."

"I admit we're not playing well at the moment, but what we need is for the crowd to get behind the side against Leighton. Everyone needs a bit of encouragement and that's what we need at the moment."

Lye were due to face National League North side Leamington during the week in a Birmingham Senior Cup clash.

Wyton had to rule out Lewis Worsey through injury but central defender Adam Meacham was set to play despite splitting his eye following a clash of heads against Loughborough.
