How they rated:

Halesowen 1, St Ives 1

Platt: Caught off his line for the well-taken St Ives opener but didn’t have a great deal to do as his side dominated. 6.

Curley: Showed good energy down the right flank. Defended well but had the freedom to have an impact in the attacking third. Created a few chances in the first half and nearly got the scoresheet with a looping header in the second half. 7.

Kelly: Had a good game and got forward well down the left, especially in the second half. Was composed on the ball and linked play well from the back. 7.

Griffiths: Part of a defence that wasn’t overly tested against a St Ives side that sat back protecting their lead. Did well when he had to and covered well against the pace of late St Ives breaks. 7.

Morris: A commanding afternoon for the defender. He was strong in the air and time and time again he timed his challenges well to nick the ball away from the visiting forwards. 7.

Murphy: Solid afternoon. Helped Hales keep their shape and was on hand to shut down any rare St Ives’ attacks. 7.

Rea: All energy showing from the skipper. Won the ball back and got around the pitch well to stifle the visitors. A big performance as his side bossed midfield and moved the ball quickly. 8.

Coyle: Drifted in and out of the game. Showed good flashes but struggled to maintain his impact. 6.

Wright: Really good performance from the striker who shielded the ball well and was a real handful all afternoon. Missed one big chance in the first half when he should have found the target from close range. 7.5.

Sweeney: At the heart of Halesowen’s attacking play in the first half. His direct running cause St Ives trouble but he also passed up a host of chances. All that was missing was the goal. 7.5.

Taylor: Had a fine first half but did drift out of the game in the second as St Ives dropped deep. Kept at it and was rewarded when he was fouled for the late penalty. 7.

Subs: Hughes: Decent cameo and Halesowen chased a leveller. On hand to slot home the penalty that gave his side a share of the spoils. 7.

Gilpin: Another attacking change. Showed his pace on a couple of occasions. 6.

Unused subs: Fitzpatrick, Bragoli, Hill.
