How they rated: Halesowen 0, Hitchin 0

Platt: Really good performance from the Yeltz stopper. Positioned himself well to make important stops, especially at his near post in each half. 7.5.

Griffiths: Solid showing from the right back who battled hard to help his side to a clean sheet. 6.

Kelly: Defended well but also got forward at times too. One fine ball at the death that Hughes couldn’t head home. 7.

Lawton: The game was a scrappy affair, especially in midfield, but he worked hard to help protect the back four. 6.5.

Morris: Another towering display in a game where defences remained on top. Won key headers and saw away the Hitchin threat. 7.

Mendez-Jones: Defended well alongside Morris and covered in behind well when required. 6.5.

Bragoli: Shifted out to the right in the first half but struggled to have an impact. Looks more comfortable when able to drop narrow and battle for the ball. 6.

Nabi: Tried to link play and support attacks in the first half but drifted out of it before being replaced on the hour mark by Curley. 6.

Wright: Held the ball up well at times early on but did cut an isolated figure at times as his side struggled to create chances. 6.

Coyle: Like the team as a whole, he was another who worked hard all afternoon but just couldn’t find that bit of quality to make a difference. 6.

Till: The tall forward struggled to have any sort of impact from out on the left. Dropped in to help cover defensively but looked short of confidence and ideas in attack. 5.5.

Subs:

Curley: Tried to provide a bit more going forward after his introduction but was needed to help keep Hitchin at bay late on. 6.

Fitzpatrick: Came on for the final 15 minutes but couldn’t have an impact. 5.5.

Hughes: Offered some more energy up front and headed a late chance at Johnson that would have won it. 6.

Unused subs: Charlton, Ekongo.
