DUDLEY Kingswinford suffered play-off heartache for the second consecutive season.

DK lost 33-30 against Midlands One West counterparts Paviors last Saturday as they missed out on promotion once again.

The away side went ahead in the game but found themselves 20-16 behind at the break after Paviors gathered their composure.

The lead exchanged hands in a competitive second period but it was eventually the hosts that edged ahead at a crucial time.

Director of rugby Neil Shillingford said: "We started really well but then let them get their points far too easily and let them back into it rather than having more control.

"I said before that it had the potential to be a really good game and that was the case. It was a proper play-off game but it's just hard to come out on the wrong side of it again.

"Overall, I think we probably did well to actually make the play-offs when you think about where we were at Christmas.

"But I'm fed up with the play-off now. It's nice to have an extra game at the end of the season but I'm done with them.

"Next year we'll be going all out to win the league and not have to go through it again.

"Work has already started and we'll be speaking to the current players and making our plans."
