Paul Smith begins building Halesowen Town squad with new arrivals

New boss Paul Smith has landed James Bowen and Jamie Ashmore following the capture of Luke Yates and Lewis Wright.

Attacking full-back Bowen, 23, last played for Redditch United and has had spells at Gloucester City, Hereford, Stafford Rangers, Solihull Moors and Leamington.

​Birmingham-born Bowen began his footballing career with League two side Cheltenham Town where he made four first team appearances.

​Right-back Ashmore started his playing career with Walsall Football Club and has enjoyed spells at Sutton Coldfield Town, Alvechurch and Redditch United.

Manager Paul Smith was delighted with the club’s latest signings ‘’On the back of securing Lewis Wright it’s great to get another top full back into the club.

"James has a great left foot and will play a huge part this season.’’

On Ashmore, he added "Jamie played more games than most for me last season. His consistency in performance is outstanding. He is a winner and it’s important to have players like him at the club.’’

Meanwhile, Luke Yates has joined on contract having had a successful season Alvechurch and Redditch United.

​The talented 19-year-old wide attacking player has caught the eye of a few EFL clubs and played in an under-23 game for Sheffield United last year and is seen as the ideal number 10 player

The Yeltz have also moved swiftly to secure the services of defender Lewis Wright on contract.

The 23-year-old has been on the books of Solihull Moors, Tamworth and Hednesford Town.

​Paul Smith was delighted to be able to capture the young right-back with a number of sides looking to sign the Midlands based player.

On completing the two signings, he said "I am delighted to have signed Luke again. He is a real talent with endless prospects. I’m confident he will become a huge fans favourite. Lewis was one of the best full backs at step 3 last year in my opinion. He offers us huge versatility as he can also play in a number of other positions. A quality addition.’’
