WORCESTER City under-15s have been crowned national champions in the Junior Premier League.

City beat Guiseley 1-0 in the final at Oxford City FC to lift a crown contested by some 108 teams over the season.

The Yorkshire side started a cagey encounter the brighter before City began to dominate from the midway point of the first half.

Dexter Dudley-Toole struck the decisive goal when he side-footed home a half volley from 10 yards.

Archie Mears had a shot cleared off the line and Alex Watts had a goal disallowed after the break with Guiseley then pressing for an equaliser.

Stout Worcester defending, with City's man-of-the-match Toby Wakefield at the heart of the action, saw through the job, though, much to the delight of the management team.

Boss Darron Hobbs said: "After losing five players last summer and having five new ones to bed in, we didn't know what lay ahead.

“To have the season we've had with just one defeat and the inaugural JPL National Elite title in our hands is truly remarkable and testament to a truly amazing squad of young footballers.

Coach Andy Wheeler added: "Darron and I are immensely proud of what has been achieved as a group. They have put Worcester City on the map."
