HIMLEY powered to back-to-back league wins as bowlers Chris Borough and Aqab Ahmed battered Barnards Green.

Captain Greg Wright's men moved to fifth place in the Birmingham and District League Division Two thanks to Saturday's nine-wicket win.

The success was set up by Boroughs (5-27) and Ahmed (3-43) as the home side were bowled out for just 77. Jamie Turner took the final two wickets as Green faltered.

Oliver Westbury (28 not out) and Wright (28) helped Himley on their way before Callum Lea (18 not out) accompanied Westbury to the line.

The skipper was delighted with the win and praised the way Boroughs and Aqab bowled in tandem.

He said: "I've got the luxury and flexibility to utilise the lads with the ball. depending one where we are and the circumstances we are in. It's nice to have those resources at the moment.

"Chris Boroughs and Aqab Ahmed bowled really well and bowled devastating spells. Jamie Turner did well too.

"The week before Stuart Wedge and James Lunn bowled for long spells yet didn't even get on.

"It wasn't a difficult chase but we were quite positive and got the job done.

"We have done it for the second week in a row and you feel we have some rhythm at the moment, which we have struggled with at time this season.

"It's all about keeping that going this week."

Himley welcome Brockhampton to Stourbridge Road this Saturday (noon start).
