HALESOWEN’S recent form has been a worry but a visit from Brockhampton put that right as they ended the season on a high note with an eight-wicket success.

The Herefordshire side have struggled all season and the final game was no exception, as they finished on 189 for nine after deciding to bat first.

Chris Powell (70) and Dominic Badger (50) scored half-centuries but their shortcomings with the ball were, ruthlessly, exposed as Halesowen raced to 191 for two, in response, in 19.3 overs. Alexei Kervezee (75 not out from 42 balls) and Ryan Lockley (62 not out from 49 balls) added 131 as Brockhampton suffered another fruitless afternoon.

The second team also finished off with a flourish by beating Brock in Herefordshire. Chasing down 256 in 50 overs was suitably achieved thanks to Harry Baddams (73) Jack Roberson (35) and Hayden Evans (33). Earlier Ciaran Baker-Smith with 3-56 stemmed the Brockhampton tide in fine fashion to complete the season with 27 League Wickets.

The third team lost to Bewdley by 130 runs and are relegated to Division Five of the Worcester County League for 2020.

Finally, the women's team completed the season with two fine victories against Alveley and Alvechurch to top the table as Champions in the Worcestershire Womens League Division 2 and subject to approval with be promoted to Division 1 for 2020.

Commenting on the end of the season, captain Alexei Kervezee said: "It was really good for the teams to finish with a flourish and end on a high and that’s great news. However, overall the season cannot be regarded as a success with the firsts finishing ninth, the 2s 10th and the 3s relegated. The teams will have to be more consistent in 2020 to avoid a repeat of 2019.

"The fact is that the top three teams have simply lost too many games when fighting for draws or a tense close fought win here and there would have left the club in much healthier positions at the end of the season. Lets see what 2020 brings and hope for better things."
