Stourbridge 2, Eastleigh 2

STOURBRIDGE will head for an FA Cup replay against Eastleigh after a thrilling a draw against their National League opponents.

More FA Cup magic will have to wait for the Glassboys after a hard-fought encounter at the War Memorial Ground.

Stour had been on course to reach the second round for the fifth time in the last 10 years when Aaron Lloyd and Will Grocott twice put them ahead.

However, Eastleigh hit back through Tyrone Barnett and Scott Rendell to deny the Glassboys another famous occasion.

The hosts were quick onto the front foot in difficult conditions at Amblecote but the first opening still went the way of the visitors as Charlie Seaman shot just wide of James Wren’s far post after a good burst down the left on six minutes.

Stour continued to battle and their first effort saw Will Grocott head Chay Tilt’s free-kick over the bar on 18 minutes.

They struck then opener on 25 minutes when Aaron Lloyd glanced the ball beyond keeper Max Stryjek after a long throw into the dangerzone.

Eastleigh hit back just 10 minutes later, however, as Tyrone Barnett beat James Wren to Andrew Boyce’s cross from the right to head into an unguarded net.

The visitors continued to keep the heat on approaching the break and it needed Wren to deny Sam Smart with a low save to ensure the clash remained all square.

The Glassboys struck again on 52 minutes to edge themselves ahead when Grocott beat Stryjek from the edge of the area after brilliant built up play involving Aaron Lloyd.

Eastleigh had the chance to level for a second time from the penalty spot after Smart was fouled in area but Wren guessed correctly to deny Scott Rendell and keep his side ahead with 20 minutes left to play.

Stour tried to hang on to the advantage but were finally undone when Rendell made up for his miss by firing into the roof of the net after a deep cross from the right on 85 minutes.

The Glassboys then nearly won it but Tilt had a powerful drive saved and sub Alex Nicholls headed wide in the closing stages.

Danny Hollands was kept out by Wren in injury time as the clash went to a replay.
