WORCESTER City FC is saying farewell to one of its players this week.

Luke Rowe will leave the club following offers from clubs higher up the pyramid.

In a statement to fans, Rowe thanked everyone at the club for their support.

He said: "First of all, I just want to say thank you to everyone involved with the club, from the players to the top management, from the backroom staff to the board, and of course to you the fans of Worcester City FC for making me feel welcome and loved from start to finish.

"Worcester City will always remain in my heart as it’s helped me go from a tough place to a bright place within the time I was there.

"I am buzzing Worcester are back in their City and can’t wait to see you climb up the leagues again.

"I have massive faith in the players and the management to take you back to where you belong. All the best, up the city."

In saying farewell to Rowe, a club spokesman said: "We would like to place on record our thanks to Rowey for his time and efforts whilst at the club and of course, good luck for the future."

The news follows the announcement earlier this week that midfielder, Connor Mooney has agreed a deal to stay at the Club for the coming season.

Mooney joined the Club mid way through last season making eight appearances following some time out of the game with injury.

Manager Ash Vincent welcomed the news, saying: "Connor improved week on week as the season was coming to an end and has worked non stop on his fitness ever since.

"He has come back to training in fantastic shape and is raring to get going for the new season.

"Moons will be a great asset to us moving forward."

The club also announced in the last few days that it has agreed a deal to sign former Bromsgrove Sporting, Alvechurch and Stourport Swifts striker Andy Nicol.

Ash Vincent said: "Andy has scored goals wherever he has been and has really impressed us during the training sessions we have held so far.

"He has worked hard on his fitness levels over the last 12 or 13 weeks and is raring to get going again after a season away from the game."
