Halesowen road racer Jacob Tipper has claimed overall victory in the South Staffs and Shropshire Road Racing League.

Tipper took the crown after finishing second to Andy Tennant at the final event in Penkridge last month.

His Halesowen team-mate Tom Gregory finished fifth to cement second place in the junior competition.

Tipper’s win marked another success for the Halesowen road team, which was set up in 2008 and has become a force to be reckoned with at regional and national events.

Other members include Chris Edwards, Ali Clay, Matt Clarke, Dan Harris and Tom Gregory.

They are riding high in the West Midlands road racing league, with sights also firmly set on the Junior Tour of Wales later this month.

Manager Dave Viner said: “This was a really great achievement for Jacob and overall it was a great team effort.

“Tom got very close to the junior title but lost out because his nearest rival had raced more events.”
