HALESOWEN Town's impressive away form could prove decisive in their fight for title success this season, says chairman Colin Brookes.

The Yeltz boast the best record on the road than any other side in the Northern Premier League Division One South.

That success away from The Grove could end up being a vital weapon in their battle for top spot. After this Saturday's home game against Loughborough, Town will then face three away trips as the campaign draws to its conclusion.

They will travel to take on Sheffield, Carlton and Belper in the next fortnight.

Brookes said: "We have been very good on our travels this season so it isn't a worry having to face three away games to end the season, if anything it could help us.

"We defend very well as a team and are dangerous on the break.

"Our main target now is another six points from our remaining games. If we do that it will mean we will get to play at home in the play-offs. Anything after that is a bonus."

The Yeltz maintained their promotion push with a 4-2 win against Mickleover last weekend.

The afternoon started off quite badly for Halesowen as the home side claimed an early lead when captain Liam Walshe nodded home a corner.

But the deficit didn’t last long, the Yeltz equalising through Joe Hull’s cracking volley. It then only took Halesowen two minutes to take the lead when Hull again flicked over the keeper and Iyseden Christie poked the ball home from point blank range.

However, Mickleover instantly replied through Simon Oshoboke as his powerfully driven header flew into the bottom corner.

In an end-to-end first half, Halesowen reclaimed the lead in the final minutes through Ben Haseley.

The second half started with the Yeltz claiming their fourth goal as Haseley once again was left to slot the ball into the net from 10 yards out.

Mickleover struggled from then on and even went down to 10 men as Mark Goodfellow was given his marching orders after receiving his second booking.

Brookes thinks a win in this Saturday's home game against Loughborough will set the side up well for the away run-in.

"It has been a great season and the players have really bought into John Hill's system and the way he wants to play. It is great to still be in there fighting," he said.

"A win on Saturday would really set us up well for the last three games. If we keep winning then who knows what might happen. Our rivals don't have easy games either."
