WHEN a popular Wordsley boozer closed for refurbishment earlier this year, its manager refused to allow the original pub artwork to go into the skip.
Owen Lowther, manager of the Lawnswood pub, has now revealed his cunning plan for the artworks future with a charity auction in aid of Stourbridge’s Mary Stevens Hospice.
Taking place from this Saturday (May 28), the memorabilia auction event will also feature live music from acoustic act Ben Folger, who as well as playing covers of his influences from Oasis to Kings of Leon, he will perform some of his own original tracks.
Owen said: “Bidding starts at 3pm, so escape the trauma of DIY shops and earn yourself a pint in the process.
“Sit back and chill, let your ears succumb to the warm vocals and see your Saturday in the right way.”
