Colleagues from Sainsbury’s Amblecote joined Stevan Jackson, CEO OF Mary Stevens Hospice Group and members of his team to present a cheque for £4760.08 – as a result of twelve months fundraising by the store in Sandringham Way.
Mary Stevens Hospice was chosen as the store’s charity partner 2013-2014, under the “Sainsbury’s Local Charity Scheme”. This scheme is now in its sixth year and gives customers the chance to vote for their favourite local charity, to be considered to receive a year’s worth of support from their nearby Sainsbury’s Store.
Mary Stevens Hospice Head of Fundraising Vicki Rowles said “The fundraising activities in store have been amazing; we appreciate all of the efforts from both staff and customers taking part to raise money for our Hospice. Activities have included sponsored bike rides, flower wrapping events, bag packing, tombola’s, a sponsored slim by three male managers and a team leader to name but a few. Support from our local community is vital to ensure we can continue to provide specialist care free of charge.”
Sainsbury’s Amblecote Store Manager, Kevin Healy said: “It has been a privilege for our Amblecote colleagues to support such an incredible charity as Mary Stevens Hospice. The charity touches the hearts of many of our customers and colleagues, who have generously supported our fundraising during the last twelve months.”
